Active Living Coach

The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation is seeking 5 part-time Active Living Coaches to work on its Go Healthy! program. The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation (CBF) is a non-profit bicycle advocacy organization with 6,000 members and a staff of 35.

Go Healthy! will encourage residents of Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood to work towards their health goals by assisting them in building walking, bicycling and public transit into daily journeys. Participants will receive tools such as personalized information, motivational coaching, maps and incentives to help them as they work towards healthier transportation practices. CBF is partnering with the Logan Square Neighborhood Association to connect primarily with McAuliffe School families.

Go Healthy! is a part of CBF’s Healthy Streets Campaign. The Healthy Streets Campaign was created to make physically active transportation safe, convenient and fun.

The campaign aims to win a balanced transportation environment that more wisely allocates resources and space to encourage walking, bicycling and public transit; and recreates streets to better serve all aspects of community life.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist and motivate 20 families and/or individuals who have a desire to become more physically active and reduce their car use.
  • Complete regular check-ins with participants.
  • Co-lead regular activities such as local bike rides or group walks.
  • Represent the Go Healthy! program at neighborhood festivals and parks.
  • Provide regular updates to program supervisor
  • Work approximately 10-15 hours per week.

Qualifications:

  • Current lifestyle that includes regular walking, biking and/or use of public transportation
  • • Desire to improve the health of Logan Sq. community by promoting bicycling & walking
  • Residence in Logan Sq. or Hermosa
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • Ability to work independently
  • Enthusiasm and experience working with diverse communities
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends

Salary:

$12-$15 per hour depending upon experience and skills.

Training will be provided.
